TOURING CAR MASTERS TO LAUNCH 2017 AT CLIPSAL 500 ADELAIDE

 

THE TOURING Car Masters will celebrate their 10th visit to the famous Clipsal 500 Adelaide in 2017.

Making their debut as a category on the famous Adelaide Parklands Circuit back in 2007 TCM will launch a huge 2017 season at the renowned event next March 2-5.

The incredible event was launched in Adelaide yesterday with TCM revealed as one of the major support categories on the huge program.

The series for classic muscle cars made between 1963 and 1978 has raced at the Clipsal 500 in every year bar one that the series has existed and it is now acknowledged as the series’ traditional season opener.

The big muscle cars are suited to the Adelaide streets and always produce classic racing for the passionate Adelaide fans.

“The Clipsal 500 Adelaide is a staple of the Touring Car Masters series since the formation of the series and we are looking forward to commencing our new year on the streets of Adelaide again†said TCM Category Manager and Chevrolet Monza racer Tony Hunter.

“TCM is about putting on a great show for the fans with a wide array of cars that sound great look great and race closely – and with a host of new and returning cars and drivers set for next year we know we will do so again.â€Â

If the 2016 season is anything to go by the 2017 Touring Car Masters series will put on quite the show on the streets of Adelaide next March.

With one round remaining the 2016 season has already seen records smashed with 10 different race winners driving six different models of classic Muscle Cars.

Legends of the sport like John Bowe Glenn Seton Steven Johnson and the great Jim Richards have been challenged by drivers like Tassie teenager Adam Garwood and Jason Gomersall in his stunning Peter Brock replica Torana A9X.

The hatchback Torana made its debut in the third round of the season this year and is yet to race in Adelaide the Queensland-prepared car to make its Adelaide debut next March.

Other frontrunners have included Eddie Abelnica (XB Falcon Coupe) Brett Youlden (HQ Monaro) and the pair representing Adelaide-based Whiteline Racing – Mark King and Adam Bressington.

Several new cars are also under construction to join the existing group of cars that include iconic Australian and US-based Muscle Cars from Ford Holden Chevrolet Dodge AMC Chrysler and more.

Driving a Chevrolet Monza Greg Ritter won two of the three races contested at the Clipsal 500 this year while Adam Garwood stormed to his first ever win in the reverse-grid trophy race affair on Sunday.

In qualifying Glenn Seton (Ford Mustang) edged out John Bowe (Torana) by less than 0.1 seconds.
