NEW SPONSORS TO BOOST TASSIE TEEN RACER
Mar 14, 2017
Tassie teenage motor racing sensation, Adam Garwood, 18 of Launceston has received a welcome boost to his campaign for success in the immensely popular Touring Car Masters Championship in 2017 with the signing of two major national sponsors for the rest of the season.
Coming off a very successful rookie season in the category, where Garwood was a runaway winner in the Pro Sports class, 2017 has seen the team move up to the Pro Am class in their recently built V8 Torana and after a solid start at the recent Clipsal 500 round in Adelaide, Garwood is buoyed by the news of the new sponsors coming on board with the small family team.
“We had a reasonably good run in Adelaide in the new car, but it’s a tough category and we are racing against some of the best names in Australian motorsport all over the country, so the new sponsorship agreements with Flexible Drive and RDA Brakes will really help” said Garwood.
“Flexible Drive are new sponsors to motorsport which is fantastic and we are really excited to bring them into the sport and with RDA brakes, who are a well known name in racing, also joining our team, it will give us a significant boost for the rest of the season” Garwood said.
The Championship moves next to Winton in Victoria in May, before heading to Darwin, Queensland , and then onto Sandown and Bathurst with the final round to be run at the brand new Newcastle track in November.
“ It’s awesome to go away and race and wave the Tassie flag nationally, and we are excited about our chances this season especially with the help of our new sponsors, hopefully we will have more power and a better understanding of the new car at Winton, which will allow us to really challenge hard for race wins” said Garwood.
Garwood, who was recently named the CAMS Rising Star winner for 2016 in Tasmania, is realistic about his chances this season, “ it’s really tough, there are so many good cars and drivers in TCM, but we also have a good car and a good team, and with a little luck I believe we can compete with the best of them, and we would love to have some local companies come on board as well to share the ride and showcase Tasmania around the country”.Return
